Johnny Depp jokes about Donald Trump ASSASSINATION at Glastonbury
JOHNNY Depp shocked crowds at Glastonbury after making an outrageous joke about assassinating President Trump.
Appearing on the festival’s new Cinemageddon stage, the 54-year-old luvvie introduced his 2004 film The Libertine but quickly moved on to rant about US politics.
He said: "I think Trump needs help. There are a lot of dark places he could go.
"I'm not insinuating anything - by the way this will be in the press and it will be horrible - but when was the last time an actor assassinated a president?
The audience erupted into cheers and applause as Mr Depp continued.
He added: "I want to qualify, I am not an actor. I lie for a living.
"However, it has been a while and maybe it is time."
Hollywood star was greeted by crowds of screaming fans as he arrived at Glastonbury in a blue vintage Cadillac.
Among the famous faces treated to the screening was former shadow Chancellor Ed Balls, who has been pictured at the festival alongside his Labour MP wife Yvette Cooper.
Depp has been working with Glastonbury organisers on the latest addition to the expansive festival, which boasts the biggest screen in the UK and will show films to festival-goers sitting in remodelled vintage cars.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star said The Libertine - about a 17th-century poet who notoriously drank himself to an early death - had been “lost in the shuffle” but welcomed the opportunity to introduce it to a UK audience.
He told fans: "Thank you so much for having me here.
"This is beautiful, chaotic, madness.
"I made this film, The Libertine - people talk about Lavie of love and all that stuff.
"I made the film because I wanted to try to bring to England a great poet that that missed.
"They missed him because he was written off as a jokester, a hoaxer.
"This guy is one of the deepest poets. He was very religious.
"Someone asks to talk about religion. How long you got?
