Kano police arrest 124 for alleged rape, sodomy

The Kano State Police Command, on Wednesday, said that it has  apprehended a total of 124 suspected rapists and sodomites in three months.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Magaji Musa Majia, who confirmed this the figure to news men said the arrests were recorded between April to June, 2017

A breakdown of the arrest , he stated included 115 cases of rape while others involved sodomy and other acts of gross indecency .

The PPRO noted that 128 victims were involved in the crimes out of which 124 suspects had been arrested, 94 cases charged to courts, while 13 cases were under investigation.

He expressed worry over the increasing rate of rape across the state, assuring that the police would continue to do their best to curtail the situation.

He appealed to religious leaders, traditional rulers and other well-meaning Nigerians to join hands in fighting the social vices.
